The closer I get to you.

Relationship counselling is designed to facilitate a process that enhances the relationship between intimates. It is aimed at dealing with issues relating to sexuality, sexual function, intimacy and connection.  Let’s work together to identify the source of your concerns and explore ways to help you reconnect and reinvigorate your relationships. Together we can strengthen bonds of communication, deepen relationship connections and revitalize intimacy between you and your partner.

The closer I get to you.

    Together we can explore:

    • Partners with longstanding or recent issues and conflicts in their relationships
    • Newlywed or couples planning to wed can discover new ways of bolstering their current bonds and learn healthy relationship tools for their future
    • Conscious uncoupling for couples looking to decide whether to separate, or stay together, and are looking to learn strategies on maintaining the relationship each desire to ensure their needs are being met.
    • Marriage counselling supports partners with longstanding or recent issues and conflicts in their relationships.

Let us get to the heart of the matter.

Love, belonging, connection and relationships, are vital to our human experience. Similar to other areas of our lives, problems and issues do arise in relationships. I provide a safe, welcoming and non-judgmental space to talk about and explore this vital part of your journey. I have an avid interest in working couples, whose intention is to revitalize and strengthen their relationship bonds; excel in their communication exchange; deepen their connection with each other; and recover and repair harm caused by conflict.

What marriage and relationship counselling approaches are used in Halifax session?

I am trained in Emotion-focused Externship Therapy (EFT)  and The Gottman Method (TGM) approaches.  Couples in therapy  are supported through processing attachment trauma and increasing their understanding of their attachment needs and that of their partner’s; as well as how to foster secure bonds between them.  Couples are also engaged in understanding destructive interaction patterns and learn new, healthy communicative styles which fosters connection and intimacy.

As a counselling therapist, my approach is  integrative  and adaptive to the client’s needs, life stage and other factors presented in our sessions.

Benefits of Relationship and Marriage Counselling:

    • Couples give themselves an opportunity to unlearn destructive interactive patterns and learn healthy communication styles that meets each other’s needs while fostering emotional safety and connection.
    • Strengthen emotional connection through open, honesty  conversation in a new way that gives space to healing from past harms experienced.  Partners enter the new chapter of their relationship as co-collaborators to the vision of their new relationship.
    • Couple will become attuned to each other needs and learn how to respond with care.
    • The quality of our relationship influences our quality of life, mental health and well-being. Unresolved relationship problems can result in stress and physiological manifestations.  Couples counselling teaches partners skills on how to  resolve conflict  through effective communication, emotional self-regulation,  mindful self-compassion, increase emotional intelligence and  manage insecurities.
    • Offer a safe, non-judgement space to disclose your feelings without fear or rejection. With curiosity and compassion, I will support you by facilitating difficult conversations and uncover the underlying issues.
